WDM Board Naming Rules

The identification code of each entity of the component. Each entity has a unique serial number, which is used for after-sales service such as determining the maintenance time. It can be abbreviated as SN.
It consists of numbers and letters, and there are three types: 12 digits, 16 digits, and 20 digits.
  • OSN8800

Serial number (SN) is the exclusive identifier of an item. The SN can help after-sales personnel identify the maintenance period.

The value is a string of 12, 16, or 20 characters containing digits and letters.

 

1. Each 12-character serial number consists of a 2-character manufacturer code, a 3-character date code, and a 7-character sequence number. The 3-character date code consists of the last two digits of the year (for example, “12” from 2012) and a character ranging from 1 to 9 and A to C which indicates the months from January to December respectively.

Each 16-character serial number consists of the last 6 characters of an item number, a 2-character manufacturer code, a 2-character date code, and a 6-code sequence number.In a 2-character date code, the first character is the last digit of the year ranging from 2000 to 2009 (for example, “4” represents 2004) or a character ranging from A to Z that indicates the year from 2010 to 2035 (for example, “B” represents 2011), and the second character is ranging from 1 to 9 and A to C which indicates the months from January to December respectively.

The correct PN should be 03030BNT, because 03 is not displayed, add 03 in front.

021FSF

The correct PN should be 03021FSF.

Each 20-character serial number consists of the character string “21”, an 8-character item number, a 2-character manufacturer code, a 2-character date code, and a 6-character sequence number.The 2-character date code in a 20-character serial number is the same as that in a 16-character serial number.

  • OSN9800

P Series Optical-Layer Service Board Naming Convention

 

  • Bits 1 to 4 (Hardware Version):

These digits represent the version of the hardware.

TMP2, TMP3, TMP6, etc., indicate different versions.

      • Boards with an odd-numbered version support the extended C-band.
      • Boards with the version TMP2 support the Super C-band.
      • Versions containing TMP6 (e.g., TMP6WONA) support both Super C+L bands.
      • If a board supports both Super C-band and extended C-band, its version will include TMP2 (e.g., TMP2MON3203).

System boards do not include any band-specific information in their version number, and the odd/even version numbering does not apply to them.

 

  • Bits 5 to 14 (Board Name): 

This part represents the specific type of board.

The board name can be up to 7 characters long and varies depending on the type of board.

 

  • Bits 12 to 14 (Extension Name): 

These final characters are used to identify any specific features or variants of the board, often referring to its additional capabilities or configurations.

P series

  • Characters 1 to 4: Hardware Version

These characters indicate the hardware version of the board, such as TNG2 and TNG3.

      • If the version number is odd, the board supports the extended C-band.
      • If the version number contains TNG2 or TNG4, the board supports the Super C-band.
      • If the version number contains TNG6 (e.g., TNG6WDAP), the board supports the Super C+L band.

Boards supporting both Super C-band and extended C-band will have version numbers containing TNG2, such as TNG2OLP, TNG2DCP, TNG2VA2, or TNG2AST2.System boards do not relate to the band concept, so their hardware version numbers do not follow the odd/even or band-specific rules.

 

  • Characters 5 to 11: Board Name

These characters represent the specific board type.

The board name can vary in length, but it contains no more than seven characters.

 

  • Characters 12 to 14: Extension Name

These final characters indicate any additional features or variants of the board, identifying its unique functionality or configuration.
