Product Model: SmartAX MA5600T, icluding MA5608T, MA5683T, MA5680T.

Problem Description

The user wants to know the steps to switch the active board cable to the standby board cable to ensure that the standby board is functioning properly in the event of a failure

Problem Analysis

If the user is not concerned about the impact of the implementation process on the business, simply follow their option “In this case, want the user to clarify whether they can move one physical link or both physical links” to suggest:

It would be better to move a physical link to reduce the impact on service.

  1. Check the traffic usage of the Eth-Trunk in slot 9 to ensure that the traffic usage does not exceed 50% to ensure that one physical link can forward all service traffic.
  2. Create a new Eth-Trunk (link aggregation) in slot 10, add member interfaces (such as 0/10/0) to the new Eth-Trunk, and copy the current Eth-Trunk configuration and other possible configurations to the new Eth-Trunk.
  3. Create a new Eth-Trunk peer device and copy the current Eth-Trunk configuration and other possible configurations to the new Eth-Trunk.
  4. Shut down an interface (for example, 0/9/0) of the current Eth-Trunk in slot 9, and then move-related physical links to the new Eth-Trunk in slot 10. For the peer device, you need to add related interfaces to the new Eth-Trunk.
  5. Check whether the new Eth-Trunk can go Up, perform a switchover, and monitor traffic.

If the customer does not care about the impact on services. They can move both physical links to the new eth-trunk on slot 10.

  1. Create a new Eth-Trunk (link aggregation) in slot 10, add 0/10/0 and 0/10/1 to the new Eth-Trunk, and copy the current Eth-Trunk configuration and other possible configurations to the new Eth-Trunk. -trunk.
  2. The peer device does not need to be modified.
  3. Disable Eth-Trunk 0/9/0 and Eth-Trunk 0/91 on the board in slot 9.
  4. Move the 2 physical links to the new eth-trunk in slot 10.
  5. Check whether the new Eth-Trunk can go Up, perform a switchover, and monitor traffic.

You need to configure a new Eth-Trunk for the board in slot 10. But it’s not complicated. It is not just switching on the OLT.
