NE40E-X8A overview
The NE40E series universal service router (USR), a high-end network product, features line-rate forwarding capability, a well-designed Quality of Service (QoS) mechanism, strong service-processing capability, and excellent expansibility and is usually deployed at the edges of Internet Protocol (IP) backbone networks, IP Metropolitan, Area Networks (MANs), Internet Data Centers (IDCs) networks and other large-scale IP networks.
The NE40E can provide comprehensive services for enterprises, and residential as universal edge devices. Based on distributed hardware forwarding and non-blocking switching technologies, the NE40E provides a maximum of 480G line cards to satisfy the increased demand for bandwidth.
NE40Es are mainly deployed on the edges of the large-scale IP network, IP backbone networks, IP bearer networks, and IP Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN).
NE40Es can be connected to NE5000Es, CX600s, and ME60s to provide complete and hierarchical IP network solutions.

The NE40E provides high-quality QoS. With an advanced queue scheduling algorithm and congestion control algorithm, the NE40E can carry out accurate multi-level scheduling for data flows. - High-Accuracy 1588v2 Clock Solution
IEEE 1588v2 is a standard for the precision clock synchronization protocol for networked measurement and control systems. The 1588v2 standard defines the Precision Time Protocol (PTP), which can achieve time and frequency synchronization with an accuracy of sub-microseconds.
The 1588v2 standard enables time and frequency synchronization to meet the requirements of the G.813 template. Accuracy within 100 ns is insufficient to meet the needs of wireless and LTE networks. The time jitter among multiple nodes (less than 30 nodes) is less than 1 us, allowing for large-scale networking. External clock sources can be assigned different priorities. A device selects an external clock source as its reference clock source based on factors such as the priorities of external clock sources and the number of hops between itself and external clock sources. After the best external clock source fails, the device automatically selects the second-best
external clock source as its reference clock source. An NE switchover can be completed within 200 ns, ensuring the high reliability of clocks.
The NMS provides GUI-based clock management.

- Port number: The ports of LPUs are numbered beginning with 0.
