FAQ about Huawei ONT
- Huawei ONT’s wireless/Wi-Fi is connected, but the connection is occasionally disconnected
Answer
- Check the strength of the Wi-Fi signal on the device. If the signal is weak, it means that the distance to the signal source is far or there are obstacles. It is recommended to use it close to the ONT.
- Stay away from wireless/Wi-Fi signal interference sources, such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, etc.
- Try to connect to the same place with other devices. If there is no such problem, it may be a driver or hardware problem of the device. It is recommended to update to the latest driver of the wireless/Wi-Fi network card and check whether the hardware is damaged.
Modify the wireless/Wi-Fi name (SSID). There may be duplicate network names within the reception range of the wireless/Wi-Fi client.
- It may be due to some viruses that cause disconnection. It is recommended to connect only one computer for testing, and use antivirus software to kill computer viruses.
- What should I do if the wireless/Wi-Fi speed of Huawei ONT is slow?
Answer
- Turn off the power, restart the ONT, and then try to connect to the wireless/Wi-Fi network.
- Use a wired connection to the service provider’s official website for speed measurement. If the network speed is abnormal, it means that there is a problem with the network. Please contact the service provider for processing.
- Check the strength of the Wi-Fi signal on the device. If the signal is weak, it means that it is far away from the signal source or there are obstacles. It is recommended to use it close to the ONT.
- Connecting multiple terminals at the same time will share bandwidth, resulting in a slower rate. Confirm whether there are services such as downloading and games that occupy a large amount of bandwidth. If so, it is recommended to close such services before going online.
- Stay away from wireless/Wi-Fi signal interference sources, such as microwave ovens, cordless phones and other signal interference sources.
- Change the wireless/Wi-Fi password (refer to “Wireless/Wi-Fi related issues >> What should I do if I forget the wireless/Wi-Fi password of the ONT?”) to prevent the rate from being slowed down due to freeloading.
- How to maximize the coverage of wireless routers or Huawei ONTs
Answer
- In real life, there are many situations that will cause the attenuation of wireless/Wi-Fi signal strength. For example, if the distance from the wireless/Wi-Fi router is far away, there are obstacles such as partitions in the middle, which will cause the wireless/Wi-Fi signal to be greatly weakened. The number of obstacles between the ONT and the terminal device (pad, mobile phone, laptop) should be reduced.
- The ONT should be away from interference sources. Common interference sources include: TV, microwave oven, refrigerator, Bluetooth device, etc.
- Adjust the antenna angle according to the environment.
- Huawei ONT’s wireless/Wi-Fi cannot be connected
Answer
- Please confirm whether the wireless/Wi-Fi network connected is the ONT’s wireless/Wi-Fi network. The default wireless/Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password of the ONT are on the device nameplate.
- Confirm whether the wireless/Wi-Fi name (SSID) or password of the ONT has been modified. If it has been modified, connect to the modified wireless/Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
- Check whether MAC address filtering is set. Log in to the ONT WEB interface (refer to “Basic Settings Questions >> How to log in to the Huawei ONT WEB interface?”), check in “Security> MAC Filtering> Wireless/Wi-Fi Network MAC Filtering”, and the MAC address added to the blacklist cannot connect to the network.
