Description

PF4E8 overview

Huawei OSN1800V 4*port 2M optical+8*port E1/T1 electrical interface board PF4E8.

The PF4E8 board provides four 2 Mbit/s optical ports and eight E1/T1 electrical ports.

The board can be used on the WDM equipment to support the upstream/downstream processing of PDH signals, and the access and processing of eight E1/T1 signals. In addition, the board can transparently transmit 2 Mbit/s optical signals to the peer equipment over a long distance, and process and transmit C37.94 optical signals.

The PF4E8 board processes four 2 Mbit/s optical signals and eight E1/T1 electrical signals and overheads, manages alarms and performance events, and provides maintenance features.

Basic functions

The PF4E8 board can access four 2 Mbit/s optical signals and eight E1/T1 electrical signals.

NMS port

  • External ports: DDN-1 to DDN-12, representing twelve external ports.
    • DDN1-DDN4: Supports I-2M optical.
    • DDN5-DDN12: Supports eight 75/120-ohm E1 ports or eight 100-ohm T1 ports.
  • Internal ports: The port number ranges from 65 to 78.

Service processing

Receives and processes four channels of 2M optical signals and eight channels of E1/T1 electrical signals.

When the 2M optical port works in 2M optical transparent transmission mode, the transparent transmission of IEEE C37.94 is supported. When the 2M optical port works in C37.94 deframing mode, the deframing and framing of IEEE C37.94 are supported. This satisfies the transmission requirements of relay protection devices in the electric power industry.

Optical port specification

Supports I-2M optical ports and is compatible with the C37.94 standard.

NOTE:

I-2M is an optical port specification defined by Huawei.

Optical module specifications

  • Allows users to detect and query information about optical modules.
  • Allows users to turn on or off a laser and supports the automatic laser shutdown (ALS) function.
  • Supports the usage and monitoring of eSFP optical modules, facilitating optical module maintenance.

Tributary clock sources

  • Extracts clock signals from the first channel.
  • Electrical port: supports re-timing of the cross-connect clock and tributary clock.
  • Electrical port: supports re-timing of the cross-connect clock.
  • Transmits E1 clock signals transparently.

Overhead processing

Processes path overheads (such as J2 and V5 bytes) at the VC-12 level.

Alarm and performance event

Provides various alarms and performance events, facilitating equipment management and maintenance.

Maintenance

Provides the following maintenance features:

  • External ports support inloops and outloops at optical and electrical ports.
  • Warm resets and cold resets (with warm resets having no impact on services)
  • Board manufacturer information query
  • External ports support the PRBS function.
  • Hot board swapping
