NE8000 M1A 10GE interface can’t be used

Issue Description

The customer is reporting that after license activation on Net Engine 8000 M1A was possible to activate only 17 of 31 available ports of this device,

the rest of the available ports are shown by system as “Port BW: 100M”

2. Customer purchased 14*10GE and 8*1GE RTU licenses, so it can activate all ports reach to Max bandwidth.

3. Check RTU license description: For the NE8000M1A series, there is a customized default reward, which is not included in the license file. The software code can directly enable 2×10+8GE.

4. Activated all ports using the command: then check interface status, still some interface 100M.

5. Check the document, it mentioned: Ports 0–15 support auto-sensing, and work in GE mode by default. You can insert a 10G auto-sensing optical module or run the port-mode 10ge command to switch a port to the 10GE mode.

 

6. after configuring the command: port-mode 10GE at interface view, the RTU license resource showing as below:

Root Cause

The ATN910C series and NE8000M1A series have customized defaults, which are not included in the license file. The software code can directly enable 2×10+8GE ports, and then load the 14×10+8GE ports in the license file.

Solution

use command active port rtu license and configure port-mode 10GE at interface view or insert 10GE SFP
